I'm doing good with my research. So far it seems like many people think texting is bad for teens' literacy but there really isn't much evidence to support that. They say that kids text too much instead of reading books with "actual words" in them. Most evidence I've found is that even though kids don't use full words most of the time texting helps develop an amazing comprehension of the sounds letters and numbers make and that's how they come up with abbreviations. Also, they say it helps teens to know when to speak normally and when to speak professionally and maturely. We all use short abbreviations when we text but I've written this whole blog without one abbreviation because I know when it's okay to use them and when it is not.
